Sleep Mode

Glasgow International / Somerset House
launched June 2020

Curated by Sarah Cook Sleep Mode was originally intended to be realised as a physical exhibition as part of Glasgow International Festival, and was realised online instead when the festival was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sleep Mode was timed to coincide with the end of the first lockdown and the summer solstice, with works of digital art that addressed changed patterns of work/sleep resulting from society’s increased dependence on technology. Over 4000 viewers tuned in across the week as the broadcast and panel discussion were both streamed live via twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live and on Somerset House’s website.

Featured artists included:

Alan Warburton, Nastja Säde Rönkkö, Douglas Coupland, Michael Mandiberg, Addie Wagenknecht, Hyphen-Labs and Garnet Hertz.
